Action Pledge

Take the original R-Word “My Words Matter” Pledge by Jenna Glatzer:

“I pledge that I will not use the words “retard” or “retarded” to mean “stupid.” I understand that this is hurtful to people who have disabilities and people who love them, so I will be careful with my words. I will also try to remember to pay attention when other people use these words, and I’ll ask them to stop. “

  1. I could never understand why people use the “R” word. People dont understand that, that word really hurts others. There are diffrent people all around us and we shouldn’t judge them for who they are. We should appreciate the DISABILITY kids there should be no reason why they aren’t being treated like others.

  3. I never have and never will use the R word. My mother raised me to never use it and I’ve always passed the same message along to all those around me. I’ve dedicated my life to advocating for individuals with disabilities and know how much this word has hurt them. Please EVERYONE take the pledge and spread the word to STOP using the R word.
