Take the original R-Word “My Words Matter” Pledge by Jenna Glatzer:
“I pledge that I will not use the words “retard” or “retarded” to mean “stupid.” I understand that this is hurtful to people who have disabilities and people who love them, so I will be careful with my words. I will also try to remember to pay attention when other people use these words, and I’ll ask them to stop. “

The “r” Word Campaign © 2007-2015, Rick & Wanda Felty – online since April 2007
I pledge to try not to use the R word again. I saw the interview with the girl from Glee and that touched my heart.
I think it is wrong no one needs to be made fun of. My brothers called me fat for as long as I can remember (and Im or was I ever) it hurt and then I started to believe it. No one should be made fun of any thing
I will try to never say the r-word in that way again. What you are doing is great. keep it up.
I will not use the “R” word, I think it’s mean and cruel! We are all GOD’s children and he made us all different for a reason! We all have a purpose in life and we are all in this together, it’s time we treat each and every person with respect and love!!
My best friend Cari has been on this case since I met her when we were in 7th grade. She would get angry when other people would say it because she had a family member who was special needs. I agreed and stopped using the r-word. I now even more so ask people not to because when I was in 10th grade my 2-year old sister was diagnosed with autism. I pledge that I will not use the words “retard” or “retarded” to mean “stupid.” (same with the word gay) I understand that this is hurtful to people who have disabilities and people who love them, so I will be careful with my words. I will also try to remember to pay attention when other people use these words, and I’ll ask them to stop. This is a wonderful campaign.
