Take the original R-Word “My Words Matter” Pledge by Jenna Glatzer:
“I pledge that I will not use the words “retard” or “retarded” to mean “stupid.” I understand that this is hurtful to people who have disabilities and people who love them, so I will be careful with my words. I will also try to remember to pay attention when other people use these words, and I’ll ask them to stop. “

The “r” Word Campaign © 2007-2015, Rick & Wanda Felty – online since April 2007
I pledge to try and not use the R-word when describing something stupid, silly, or foolish. I pledge to stand up and ask my friends to not use that word because it offends me. I pledge to ask my parents to not use that word.
I gave myself a few months to make sure that i could do this and not breake a promise. After you stop using this word you realize how much you acctually said it and how others do. I promise to keep TRYING not to use the “r“ word!
I pledge not to use the R word ever again. As I understand it hurts people who have a disabilities and if I hear anyone say this word I will ask them to stop.
I will try my hardest to never ever say the r-word again
I pledge to never EVER use the word retarded to describe something socially unacceptable or nonsensical. I also pledge to watch for people who use this word inappropriately and explain to them why it is not right.
