Take the original R-Word “My Words Matter” Pledge by Jenna Glatzer:
“I pledge that I will not use the words “retard” or “retarded” to mean “stupid.” I understand that this is hurtful to people who have disabilities and people who love them, so I will be careful with my words. I will also try to remember to pay attention when other people use these words, and I’ll ask them to stop. “

The “r” Word Campaign © 2007-2015, Rick & Wanda Felty – online since April 2007
I pledge to not say the “r” word from this day forward.
I pledge to not use the r word. It is more productive to recognize someone’s gifts rather than any disability.
I pledge not to ever use the ‘R’ word, and the only R word I would use, is RESPECT!
I promise to NEVER use the R word! 🙂 I actually have a cousin with downsyndrom and this website means so much to me. My cousin has a page on Facebook called Give For Graison, please help support!!
I have never used the r-word in any way and never will. My younger brother is special needs and I always think of him when I hear the r-word, and it HURTS him, me, and all special needs people and their loved ones. I pledge that I will not use the r-word EVER and I will ask people who do use it to stop.
